Uta Ruge
Uta Ruge was born on the island of Rügen. After her family’s flight, she grew up in a northern German village as the daughter of farmers. She studied German philology and politics in Marburg and Berlin and worked at the publishing house Rothbuch and for the TAZ in Berlin. From 1985-1998 she lived in London, working for the international magazine Index-on-Censorship and as a freelance radio author. She lives in Berlin.
